From creating bespoke floral designs for weddings, events, sympathy work and seasonal workshops to planning, planting and bio-diversifying gardens in urban or rural green spaces.
All work is inspired by the simplicity of nature and the inspiration of colour and texture in floral and gardening work alike.
A career change in 2022 from working in a therapeutic setting in the NHS for 15 years to growing, tending to and caring for nature and plants I moved into working outdoors in horticulture and the floral industry.
A recent move from the West where my roots have grown to the wild Norfolk landscape where I started my life cycle and journey has drawn my work towards encouraging the use of raw, natural and recycled materials in soft/hard landscaping ideas and natural, wild and free flowing floral designs. My style is about self expression and creating work that speaks emotionally to its customers through the floral creations and installations I make and or the gardens I help curate, establish and nurture.
I have an eye for creating sustainably meaningful floristry and garden spaces that help support and sustain both the people and nature that inhabit them. This means using scented plants and foliage and edibles making growing practical for our busy and stressful lifestyles. Slowing down in the garden and through my floral work to take in natures natural beauty is my aim to aid wellbeing and connect us to ourselves again and our communities around us.
Sustainability, BioDiversity and Therapeutic Creativity:
I have a particular lean in my work towards a more therapeutic and bio-diverse model of design in floral and gardening work. This therapeutic focus has always been part of my work from a previous career which also drives some of the heart of my present work-listening to, identifying barriers to ideas or concepts and empowering and helping re imagine futures through design work.
I have had the privilege of working since my relocation alongside Head Gardener of the naturalistic walled garden @HolmeHaleHall designed by Arnie Maynard where seed sowing, cut flower growing and harvesting were one of many of my jobs in this beautifully curated space.
I have been able to freelance locally as a florist and have a passion for growing flowers from seed and keeping the carbon footprint as low as possible for my wedding and event work. More recent growing has enabled me to step out in selling some of my own flowers and vegetables to @Niche Flowers in Norwich so we can keep British growing at the heart of our work, helping support biodiversity our environment and carbon-footprint.
My floristry feels more to me like playing with colours, textures and sculptural work. I am a hands on person and love the incorporation of naturally sourced local materials in the garden, hence I have introduced the craft of botanical clay casting into my repertoire of workshops, wedding and sympathy work.
I have always loved working with clay and am developing this hobby behind the scenes alongside small bits of home renovation work, exposing old wooden floorboards and sanding back old stairs and doorframes.
I love of working with natural and locally recycled resources in the garden landscaping too and will likely introduce a Natural stone pathway or a Norfolk pine seating area into my designs.
